Getting a Sound Blaster AWE 32 to Work in Fedora Core 2

For some reason, Fedora Core 2 did not automatically detect my Sound Blaster AWE 32. After much playing around, I found that all I needed to do was add the following line to /etc/modprobe.conf:
alias sound_slot_0 snd-sbawe
I also did a depmod -a and rebooted, but I'm not sure if that was necessary...

Then, I had to go down the same path of discovery that everyone else has - right-click on the volume control on the gnome-panel and choose Open Volume Control. I had to turn up PCM and Out-gain.
