As I watch myself changing through the weight loss, I am discovering how many areas of my life have been connected to this one issue. My special education training is going to show now as I am developing goals and objectives in my own kind of Individualized Education Plan, the Mind Renewal Plan. You will notice that none of my objectives below list specific pounds to lose or maintain. That's because, while my doctor and I have jointly decided that 160lbs is a good place to shoot for, it is more important to look at health and to see how I am able to function at my best weight. Also, because the body does have a mind of it's own sometimes, I could lose or gain a couple of pounds without regard to the important behavioral changes I am making. Again, this is a living like a thin person concept. Fat people are very concerned with numbers of pounds while dieting, thin people are concerned with how they feel, look, and what they are able to do. I have no power over actual pounds lost. I do have power over my behavior as it relates to exercise, food, and other areas. In the long run, I believe those changes will affect the number of pounds I lose.
I will not be working on these all simultaneously. I will report mastery of each objective and will be working on at least one objective per week.
